Can't use non Adobe version of font

I create direct mailers for a client and am required to package up INDD files with links and fonts. Catamaran is one of their brand fonts and I can't package the Adobe version becuse of the Adobe copywrite. As a work-around, I downlaoded the free OpenType TrueType variation of this font and disabled the Adobe version. This has worked fine for about a year, but now my system is constantly telling me that Catamaran font is missing. I verified the Adobe version is off and reinstalled the OpenType version. Still issues. I turned off all of the Adobe fonts... this helpd for a few days, but now I'm having trouble again, even with the Adobe fonts turned off via the CC app. If I manually change the font back in one text box, it will change to the correct version, but if I copy-paste, it changes it back to the version that adobe says is missing. Find/ replace (even with changing to a 3rd font, closing and repoening to change to the correct font) doesn't work. I'm working on a 40 page brochure, so this is getting old. HELP!!

Hi @EvryCreative,

I'm sorry to hear how frustrating this must be while working on such a large brochure. When InDesign keeps defaulting to the Adobe Fonts version, it's usually because the document has internally cached the Adobe font reference. Please try signing out and back in to the creative cloud and then, clear the font caches on your system, and then reopen the file, so it only sees the locally installed OpenType version. After that, manually replace any remaining instances of the missing font and save the document.

If the problem continues, try exporting the file as an IDML and reopening it. Kindly let me know if this works for you or if you’re still seeing the Adobe version override the local font.

Looking forward to your update.
