Question

Can't use or download InDesign

Hi everyone. I have an old iMac 27-inch (late 2012) - (iMac 13.2). I have managed to upgrade my OS via OCLP to Ventura 13.7.8. Everything is working fine, except I can’t use or download InDesign while in the Creative Cloud. When I click on the three dots for InDesign there is no option for previous versions, even after allowing that in preferences. My Mac hardware is too old. Is there a link for older version? Can I use and install older versions? I can’t upgrade my OS any further as my hardware does not support this.

Is there a product similar to InDesign out there. Something to use for magazine layout etc. I know i could use Illustrator, but just not the same.

Thanks for the input all. I have realised it is the processor and graphics card that’s too old. Yeah, need a new Mac, they just so expensive here in South Africa.

They’re expensive everywhere. You could move to Windows and save some money but if it’s not your thing, then you’ll have to spend the money.

Check out which version would be supported by your OS version. If it isn’t the 2026 or 2025 version then you won’t be able to get an installer for anything older than that. Adobe supports only the latest and one prior version.

And what happens if you attempt to install the current version? It supports Ventura and, in theory, you should be able to install it even with OCLP.

If you decide to pursue a newer computer, this information may be helpful. There is a tab for macOS.

You can try contacting Adobe directly and explain your situation but I wouldn’t count on using “my computer is 13-year-old” as reason for them to provide something outside the norm.

At a certainly point, it’s time to buy a new machine. And keep in mind, if Apple won’t support it, there’s no reason to think Adobe will.

That said, if you don’t ask the answer is always no.
