Can you change the Auto-Hyphen symbol?

Hi there -

I have some complex text wraps with lots of text in them - which means lots of hyphens! If you have justified text you must use hyphenations.

Is there a way to employ hyphenation without showing the hypens?

Or can you change the hyphen into a different (perhaps smaller symbol) so it is less obvious to read?

    hi Laubender -

Thanks for this - unfortunately that is for indesign hyphenation - does it still apply to Illustrator?

In order to set up the threaded text i have to work in illustrator - I don't know of a way to thread the text on concentric circle lines automatically on Indesign - is there a way?

    Thanks,
