Cannot open Shared Cloud Documents in InDesign (and Illustrator)

Hi everyone,

The Problem: In InDesign, I can see the icons for files shared with me, but clicking them does nothing. Occasionally, the loading cursor appears briefly, but the file never opens. Local files work perfectly.

In Illustrator, I have the same issue, but it triggers an error banner: "You don't have access to this file," even though I am logged in with the exact email address used for the sharing invitation.

What I've tried:

  • Updated both apps to the latest version.

  • Ensured no one else is currently working in the files.

  • Verified my Adobe ID matches the invited email.

Has anyone encountered this sync/permission glitch? Any advice on how to fix it?

    Hi @Cristina_P04,

Hope the expert’s suggestion helped resolve the issue. If not, could you please let me know if you’re still experiencing the same behavior?

Also, it would be helpful if you could confirm whether you’re able to access and open the shared files from both the Creative Cloud Desktop app and the web browser (https://www.adobe.com/files).

    Looking forward to your update.

Hi @Cristina_P04, Rather than clicking the in-app icons, see if you can locate the shared files manually through Creative Cloud Files from the three-dot menu options (see screenshot). Also, did you try closing all Adobe apps, signing all the way out of your Adobe Creative Cloud account (File > Quit Creative Cloud), and then signing back in to refresh your session and resynchronize the shared files?
