I'm trying to rename a swatch, but it's grayed, whats the problem?

The color came in with a placed graphic as a Spot color. You will have to delete the link(s) that use the color inorder to edit the swatch:

thanks for your answer rob, is there a way to do this using a JS script?

Not easily, the script would have to find and open the links with the Spot color and convert the spots to process, then the swatch could be deleted (it’s no longer being used) or renamed.
