Cannot select any objects or text

I have a file complete and reopened Indesign to replace a few graphics and I cannot select anything to move or replace. Any ideas?

In complement of @Eugene Tyson answer, it also could be possible that the whole spread is covered by an empty frame.

That is still locked - otherwise it would be movable 😉

No, if the OP is a beginner, she may have the impression that objects are locked while they are simply covered by a transparent unassigned frame…
