Cannot Select Guides

When I create a guide that I want to put in a specific position, there is no dialogue for this.

So I drop it anywhere and then want to select it and type the options in the control panel at the top.

However I cannot select the guide.

I went to my layer, and under options, turned off view guides, so I know my guide is on that layer.

Then I made sure "lock guides" was off for that layer.

Also lock guide is off under the global view -> guides menu

Yet I cannot select any guide that I create....

Why can't I select guides, it's making me very sad 😞

Please show a screenshot of your layer panel and the layer options as well for the parent page with the rules visible.

Thanks, I just tried again and it works.... I don't know why, the error probably occured between chair and keyboard... 😞

For what it's worth, the guide should be selected automatically as soon as it's created so you should be able to drag it out, then without clicking anywhere else go to the control panel and type the desired coordinate. The only time you should need to reselect a guide to do this is if you've done some intermediate action.

This is what was not happening, I was creating a guide, and it was not selected, and unselectable. I really checked each layer properties, and none of them had guides locked, so I don't know why it's working today, but I am happy that it is!

Did you maybe put the guides on one of the parent pages and then try to edit it on a regular page? You would have to release parent page items first to get access to that guide.
