Catalog Creation

Hi!
I am working on creating a catalog in InDesign and am trying to make this as efficient for my client as possible. I have multiple products on each page, and I am trying to create the template so that the client enters the item number and the rest of the information automatically populates. Is that possible? Or is there a plugin somewhere that can make that possible? Would be great if I could also populate the images and hyperlink the images as well.

I've tried DataMerge, but run into issues with the multiple items per page and many pages in the document.

Thanks in advance!

Giving your client control of the InDesign file is a recipe for losing control of the InDesign file. If you want a way for your client to alter the content of your InDesign file you will be making a lot of work for your client and yourself. Data Merge is probably the way to go, allowing your client to supply a text file or spreadsheet which you can export and use as the data source for your merge file.

Data Merge is not intuitive but with some experimentation you should be able to get something that saves you a lot of labour.
