Question

CC 2015 ID on Windows freezes/not responding

My work insists we use CC 2015 and I do a lot of typesetting on InDesign CC 2015
My application is constantly freezing up (not responding)
Just yesterday I kept a log:

(pardon the exact times - I was hoping to show our IT person, who has very limited experience with anything Adobe)

9:13AM: Won't load UI completely (tool palettes) from a driver folder (formerly this was the way I opened and worked on all my indd

11 AM: Froze trying to open a second doc (formerly able on same machine)

11:45 AM: Froze exporting to .pdf

11:49 AM: Froze opening an indd from recent jobs on ID "Splash page"

3 PM Froze exporting a .pdf

5:29 PM pdf exporting again

TODAY

9:25 AM Froze trying to package an indd

-----

The least crashy "opening" seems to be open CC, then ID2015, then go to open and find the file...though it still DOES crash this way.
Formerly - I would just find the .indd and double-click to open.

HELP!

Thanks - Chris

Ask your IT people if the network software they are running is compatible with the Creative Cloud Programs. Since you mentioned that your IT people seem unfamiliar with anything Adobe it seems possible that it may be a network issue. I have seen many instances in my own agency where the network software was kept at an earlier version to keep virus and firewall software running which meant that the operating system and other software programs had to stay at earlier versions to accommodate. Try detaching from your network and working totally locally and see if the problem persists.

Hi Christopher,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please try resetting preferences for InDesign: Set preferences in Adobe InDesign .

If it still does not work, as Bob mentioned it would be great if you share the complete system information like

  • Operating System(the Exact version of Windows)
  • RAM on system
  • What all applications are opened when it freezes
  • Event Viewer log

Regards,

Srishti

Without full system specs it’s impossible to say what’s going on.

Even at that, it’s not going to be easy.
