Question

CC Library does not update changes made to graphics in InDesign.

InDesign is not saving my changes consistantly when I edit a CC Library graphic. Sometimes it will update, sometimes it won't. Mind you, these are very simple graphics... nothing crazy...  (ok, maybe one of them was). All graphics were created in InDesign and edited in InDesign.

My workflow:

  1. I double click a graphic that needs updating to open it to make changes
  2.  edit it in InDesign
  3.  Save and close document/tab
  4.  scroll to item in library and place it in new document.
  5.  It only gives me the old graphic and the thumbnail in the panel clearly shows it is not the updated version.

My workaround is to delete the original from the library and save a new one... (when I remember - UGH! when I forget). This means I also loose my description text.

Details:
Windows ver. 20H2
InDesign 2024 and 2025
It happens at work
It happens at home
solid internet connection
1 terabyte cloud storage available
green checkmark next to syncing in CC Desktop app

I've tried:
restarting InDesign
restarting Windows

Hi @11053831,

Thanks for reaching out, and I understand how frustrating this can be! Based on your workflow, it seems like the issue might be related to the syncing process between InDesign and the CC Library.

To better understand, could you share a screen recording showing the steps where the graphic does not update in the CC Library? This will help us identify any potential issues.

In the meantime, try below:

1. Clear Cache: Try clearing the CC Libraries cache:

 - Close InDesign.

 - Navigate to: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Creative Cloud Libraries\.

 - Delete the "libs" folder (it will regenerate).

 - Restart InDesign and check if the issue persists.

2. After editing the graphic, ensure you save it back to the same library item instead of saving it as a new file.

If the problem continues, feel free to share the recording or any additional details. I'll do my best to assist further!

Thanks,

Abhishek Rao

Hi @Abhishek Rao

I don't have a way to screen record my steps, but I did all your instructions for step 1. So far it has not happened, but I have only been in the Libraries sporatically when I need to add a graphic. I will be watching my actions and making sure graphics are being updated going forward. Hopefully deleting the libs folder will have fixed my issues.

Thank you for your quick response!

Hi @Earthling v42.0,

Thank you for the update! I'm glad the issue hasn't occurred so far. Deleting the "libs" folder often helps with library syncing issues, so hopefully, this resolves it permanently.

If the issue reappears:

1. Ensure your Creative Cloud desktop app is up-to-date.

2. Log out of Creative Cloud, restart your system, and log back in.

3. Verify that your internet connection is stable during syncing.

Feel free to reach out anytime if you need further assistance. I’m here to help!

Best,
Abhishek Rao
