CC library group or type views

Good afternoon all.

I have heard it said that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Well....

I probably should start by saying something along the lines of - High Sierra OS and InDesign CC 2019.

Some of our staff have been seeing a nagging issue, where the two different view options: "View by Group" or "View by Type" are not presented in their CC Library's panel.

I have searched the interwebs, but haven't been lucky enough to stumble over where this display difference is discussed.

I have tried clearing out InDesigns preferences.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the InDesign app. Clearing all previous application preferences.

Though I imagine that the CC Library data is not held within InDesign, as these libraries are of course shared across Adobe's applications.

I have run a repair re-install on the Adobe CC app.

I am now looking for some advise on what else to try. Hopefully someone else has seen this behaviour before and can point me in the right direction.

Apologies, I have really dropped the ball in keeping the forum updated on this issue.

As crazy as it sounds, the only way we could resolve this behaviour was to create entire new builds.

As the problem exists when in the admin account, it was proliferated in all user accounts.

I have no doubt that this was caused by the way these workstations were set up.

They would have once been configured via an SOE and updated through a few generations from there.

We had a toy about in a virtual environment, so that it was easy to revert via snap shots - but in the end the only solution that we could find was to jamf out an entire new build, which we found fixed this behaviour in all examples.

We manage hundreds of workstations running CC accounts and have only seen this behaviour in half a dozen of them.

Hi Brent:

I'm curious if those missing the View by Group option have the most up to date version of the CC Desktop app, and if they tried signing out and back in?

Also, you might try relaunching the CC and the libraries:

Good afternoon Barb.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Sorry for being slow to respond. What a day!

Just this afternoon, I was able to spend some time connected up to one of the operators who is seeing this behaviour.

She was just about to head home, but more interested in trying to get this behaviour resolved - so happy to spend some time with me on it.

They have tried signing in and out of their accounts. I have watched to make sure.

Due to this, I was of the opinion that they are running the most recent version - as typically that action can cause an update.

This is the Adobe CC version that they have running, so you may be able to correct me there:

Neither removing the "Creative Cloud Libraries" directory, nor the Command+Option+R in the CC app did the trick either.

Though I will keep those in mind if I see any other unexpected behaviour, as I was not familiar with those tricks.

Most of the libraries that they are using are shared.

They are shown in their groups when the effected user logs into their Adobe CC web account.

It is only a minority of staff who do not see this grouping flow into their Adobe apps.

It may be a clue to know that this behaviour does not seem to follow the staff member around. If they log into their Adobe CC account from a different workstation, the CC Library panel appears correctly - in that they have the different view options available.

Once I understand the cause of this, I will be sure to put the solution back here.

Eric, unfortunately the pallet appears the same regardless of if a library contains assets or not.

There is a Creative Cloud forum called "File Hosting, Syncing and Collaborating" which is specifically designed to answer questions about Creative Cloud services. I would ask for help from the staff there:

The lower screenshot seems to have nothing added to the library.

Can you try to add a couple of colours/text frames and check if the options appear then?
