CC Library: Transparency Issue with .ai / .psd files after 2025 Update

Hi,

Since updating to the 2025 version of InDesign, files like .ai and .psd with transparent backgrounds stored in the CC Library now appear with a white background when placed in a design. This issue persists when exporting to PDF. This is only happening in InDesign.

Anyone can help me, please?

Thanks

Hi Victor,

All I can say to that ideas is OOOF! That can't possibly be right?!?

You're right, Mike.
When I export using the method I just told you about, the white background still appears. Then I tried what you told me, but without actually placing the file at the end, and now the white background doesn't appear in the document anymore, nor when I export.

Thank you very much!

Have you tried File > Place an image with Show Import Options in order to get to the next dialog box where you can turn on Transparent Background. Then after that, pull something with transparency from CC Libraries and see if it, too, is transparent.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike.

I tried the method you outlined (importing an image with File > Place and selecting Show Import Options to enable Transparent Background), and unfortunately, the problem persists. Subsequent items pulled from CC Libraries still display a white background behind the transparent elements.

The only reliable workaround I've found so far is to select the imported library object, go to Effect > Transparency, and manually check the "Knockout Group"
