change the indesign file name position when exporting from indesign to acrobat as pdf

Hello, is it possible to change the indesign file name position when exporting from indesign to acrobat as pdf, as it automatically puts the text below on the left side but the beginning of the file name is cut out and I wanted to know if you can say to indesign to change the position a little bit more to the right so I can see the whole file name. Thanks!

@Francesca Petrini : Since this has come up before, I’m starting a new User Voice report about the issue that I will link here so others can add their vote to.  In the meantime, the only solution for you is to add a slug area to your document setup of about 3p / 12.5 mm / 1/2”, and then make sure you include slug area in your PDF export. This will open up the viewing area so your page information does not get cut off.

This has come up before, but I can’t find the thread, but ID has a weird algorithm where the page information is weirdly placed if the width of a file is less than a certain width… in fact, I just did a test, and the behaviour changes if the width is less than 335pts.

I’m pretty sure we talked about adding a User Voice for this issue, but I cannot find that either.

Thank you Brad, I didn’t knew that! Yes the page size is 90x50mm!

This looks to me like the exported Page Info and that the size of the field is too small to hold the entire filename, but why it’s cutting off both ends is a mystery.

Maybe 20 years ago David Blatner published a method for customizing the marks on export, but I haven’t seen it in ages, nor am I sure it would solve this particular problem. Perhaps adding a real slug to the layout in InDesign that contains a filename variable would be a viable alternative?

Sorry, what I thought was cut off on the right was actually our quote marks, so only truncating to the left.

What is the page size? My guess is quite narrow.

Hi Peter, thank you, 90x50mm page size, yes I can put a filename variable like you suggested, thanks!

    Hi Francesca,

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing? I’m not sure whether you are talking about InDesign or Acrobat Pro? Or Acrobat Reader?

This screenshot is the upper right corner of Acrobat Pro:

Hi Mike, thank you for the interest, here’s what I mean, you see the text below on the left corner “6035913D87_75120039_CU.indd 20” this is in acrobat pro, I wanted to know if maybe there is a way directly when you export the indesign file to pdf that the text “6035913D87_75120039_CU.indd 20” can be shown a little more to the right so the whole text is visible and not cut out (actually you see just “35913D87_75120039_CU.indd 20”) because I know how to do it in acrobat but would be faster if you can do it directly from indesign because it’s automatically put there from indesign. Thanks!

Strange, I can’t reproduce it even on a 3x2” page:

What are your InDesign and operating system versions?
