Change thickness of layout grid lines

Is there a way I can change the thickness of the lines in the layout grid?

I'm exporting a PDF with the layout grid included (so that I can then use it as a guide in After Effects). But the lines show up as quite faint when I import into AE

Hi @mttplbkp ,

the other thing you could try is to change the thickness of layout grid lines in Acrobat Pro.

When in Acrobat Pro:

Print Production > Preflight > Acrobat ProDC 2015 Profiles > Single Fix Up > Page contents >

Set minimum line width to 0.14 pt

Duplicate that profile and edit it to your needs.

Hi @rachelrillus,

Unfortunately, there’s no built-in option in InDesign to adjust the thickness of layout grid lines directly. The grid lines are guides, not actual objects, so their appearance is limited to what’s available in Preferences > Grids & Guides.

If this is something you’d like to see in the future, I’d recommend raising it as a feature request on our UserVoice here: https://adobe.ly/42ioOcV and adding your comments. This helps us prioritize requests, and you’ll be notified of any updates.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance.

You could use step and repeat to create a grid using a stroke of any color and weight.
