Character counts errors in InDesign

Hi,

I have an issue with the character count in InDesign. When I insert a text in an existing InDesign layout that I often reuse, if I compare the character count of the Info Pannel to the character count of the generated PDF, there is a significant difference.

 

Where is the error and how to solve it?

Hi @Dame_Sophie , As @Mike Witherell  points out, the Info character count is for the current selection. You could get document character counts via scripting, but it gets tricky—should the count include text on Parent Pages, unreleased Parent Page text items, text inside of table cells, etc.

Could you post an example ID document along with the PDF for comparison?

Also, the Info panel will count words in a Story; not the whole document which might have many separate story threads.

Where in Acrobat are you seeing the word count (I suppose for the whole document)?
