Character/Text issues

When I highlight a character to be replaced (e.i., "9" needs to be replaced with a "7") I need to type the new character twice before it actually replaces the incorrect character. Why? This makes correction and updating almost impossible when in a time crunch.

This has been happening ever since the latest update.
