Colons changing to squares when exporting to PDF from InDesign

Hello, I'm having trouble figuring out what the issue is here. I have a block of text that includes several colons. When exporting, the colons display as squares in a PDF. There are no errors in InDesign, and the colons are the same font as the rest of the text. Searching online has turned up no solutions. Any suggestions?

Lots of reports of similar issues with Google fonts. If that is waht this is, and youi can also get the font through Adobe, try that.

I suspect a font bug. Try changing a representative paragraph or style to a similar font (maybe even a different weight of the one you're using) to see if the fault persists.
