Combine footnotes from two text boxes into one?

Hello, 

 

I have two text boxes on a single page: main body and a callout box. I have the footnotes set to appear at the bottom of each text box BUT I need all of the footnotes on a given page to appear together at the bottom of the page (not at the bottom of each text box). I can thread the text boxes but I need to be able to shift the callout box. 

 

Is there a way to have the footnotes from both text boxes appear at the bottom of the page (i.e. the botton of the second text box OR in a separate text box)?

Hi @rossbsf ,

flow all text in one single text frame.

Do the callout with paragraph shading, a  text feature with the paragraph.

Hi @rossbsf:

 

If Uwe's shading idea doesn't work for you, you could go old-school. This is what I used to do in PageMaker years ago—I would place the footnotes in their own story and auto-number them. Then I would manually type in the footnote reference numbers, and manually place the footnotes at the bottom of the main story. There is nothing automatic (or pleasant) about this process, but it will get the job done if you need to notes to remain below the main story.

    Thank you. I didn't think of that. I still need to be able to move the callouts to the top of the page indepentently from the main body text.

    Hi @rossbsf ,

    that will not work with footnotes.

    All footnote texts in one particular text frame are always gathered at the bottom of the frame.

    If you want to move the callout, move the paragraphs of the callout in your main story that flows from one text frame on the page to the next text frame of the next page.
