Buongiorno.

Voglio modificare un testo con In Design, ma quando clicco sulla parola da correggere non succede nulla. Che cosa devo fare?

    Buona sera, Vincenzo,

Did you pick up the Type tool to click on the word to correct?

One click inserts the Type tool cursor. Two clicks selects a word. Three clicks selects a line of text. Four clicks selects a whole paragraph of text. Five clicks selects all the paragraphs of the entire story. For goodness sake, whatever you do, don’t click six times!

If text will not select, is it possible that the text lives on a Parent page?

Did you make sure the Layer is unlocked?

    Hi Mike.

In the InDesign package I received I have two files of the laid out stone but of two different types: one "InDesign Markup Document" of 518 KB and the other "InDesign Document" of 4736 KB. Which of the two do I need to open to perform the corrections?

@Vincenzo Just to make sure: Do you have any previous experience of working with InDesign, or is it the first time you’re using the program? This will help us understand how to help you with your questions.

    Hi @Vincenzo,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please confirm your InDesign version and operating system version? Also, please let us know if you're using the Type Tool (T) when trying to edit the text, whether this happens with all text frames or only a specific one, and whether the affected text frame is on a locked layer or a parent (master) page. It's also worth checking if another object is covering the text frame, in that case, try Ctrl+Click (Windows) or Cmd+Click (macOS) to select the underlying text frame and see if you're able to edit it. If possible, please share a screen recording demonstrating the complete workflow and the behavior you're seeing, as it will help us better understand and investigate the issue.

    Looking forward to hearing back.

    Buongiorno.

    Adobe InDesign 2026

Sistema operativo a 64bit, processore basato su x64.

    Windows 11 Home

Che cosa intendete per "la cornice di testo interessata si trova su un livello bloccato o su una pagina principale (master)"?

    Saluti.

    Hi @Vincenzo

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I wanted to check if you're still facing this issue, or if the suggestions shared by the experts helped resolve it. To clarify my earlier questions, if the text is on a locked layer, you won't be able to select or edit it. You can check this by going to Window > Layers and looking for a padlock icon. If the layer is locked, simply click the padlock to unlock it. Ref: Create and use layers in Adobe InDesign | InDesign.

Also, if the text is on a Parent (Master) page, it can't normally be edited directly from a document page because Parent pages contain elements that are repeated across multiple pages. In that case, you can either edit the text by opening the Parent page from the Pages panel or override it on the document page by pressing Ctrl + Shift and clicking the text frame. Ref: Parent Pages in Adobe InDesign | InDesign.

Please let us know whether you're able to select and edit the text after checking these. If the issue still persists, we'll be happy to guide you further.
