Convert an InDesign Index into an index that can be exported to ePub

I have generated an Index in InDesign but this will not export to ePub as InDesign doesnt support that yet.

How can I take this index and generate a plain text version but still with working links that would then be exportable to ePub? Does anyone have a script for this that I could run in ID?

Logically:

I'm thinking i'd have to run through the index and for each topic check for any page references and insert a hyperlink destination on that specific page and then create a link to this in my new index. This new index would be inserted into say an empty text frame that I draw and then select before running the script. Does this logic sound like it could work?

Thanks

- Im using InDesign CS6

Hello,

Here is another set of plugins that might help.

All the best.

There's a commercial script to do that: http://benmilander.com/content/create-index-epub  The trial version works for indexes in single files.
