Can such an earlier .indd file possibly be opened with the current version?

Thanks.

I had tried earlier to create a new document and place this one. It said "Import failed."

I couldn't find the Indesign Defaults in that AppData directory (showing all hidden files).

    Thanks for your help anyway.

Maybe you should try exporting your .indd file to .idml and open that idml in CC, may be it can Sort your problem.

CS3 only exported to INX. And we don't even know if it's CS3 or CS (version 3).

    It's Indesign 3.0 (CS3), created in 2007 on a PC.

When I try to access the file in Indesign CC 2017 (PC, 64-bit, Windows 10), it says it can't open it.

What other information can I give you?

How do I export an .indd file to .idml when I can't open the file in Indesign 2017 to do the export?

Further info: when I selected the file to open and choose Open Copy, the message now says that the file is damaged (error code 4).

I have InDesign 1.0 files here that open in CC2017.

Well, it’s quite impossible to guess the issue given the fact that you’ve supplied zero information.

What exact version created the files? What exact version are you using? What operating system? What happens when you try to open the file?
