Converting newer to older version

When I try to open a file saved in version 2019, the program asks me if I want to convert the file to my version (2015). After accepting, Indesign suddenly closes.

      Can you ask the original creator of the file to export an IDML for you?

      First--is your version completely up to date with all patches?

      Have you tried 2020? (You can have multiple versions installed.)

       

      Another options is if you still have the 2015 version installed, try saving the file as IDML. The open the IDML in the newer version from the Open menu.
