Copy and past options for formatting of text and objects

I often use pages or text from other documents (not always from indesign) that have a differnt font or object styles and it wouldbe use for have a copy formatting option that allows you to highlight text or indeed select an object and then past that formatting onto the page imported from another document...... I do use styles but I find that sometimes the styles hold onto some of the text attributes....

So a quick copy and past the formatting would be really useful especially when working on files from a magazine I work for who use really differnt formatting to what I use on my own publications.

Not entirely clear, but it sounds to me like you want to use the Paste Without Formatting command, which pastes the text using the formatting in your document at the insertion point. You can also set your prefs under Clipboard Handling to paste text only.
