"Copy link(s) to" function is broken

The "Copy Link(s) To" function in the Links window was broken in one of the recent updates.

Now when you copy links, it *breaks* the existing links in your document, and redirects the paths to the location that you copied to. This pretty much makes the feature unusable.

Was this an intentional change? Any workarounds or fixes for this?

I can confirm this behavior, but with two caveats:

-It works the same in InDesign 2025.

-If after using the "Copy Link(s) To" command you close the InDesign file without saving, then open it again, the links will be linked to their original location again.

At least that's what I witness here on macOS Tahoe.

Frankly, I haven't used this option before, so I can only report the results of these brief tests.

Yes I should have specified I believe it started behaving this way in one of the 2025 updates. I started noticing it a few weeks ago when I was still on 25; was hoping that the update to 26 would fix it. I am on Windows 11, so it doesn't seem like an OS issue.

Hi @sethb39817292,

Thanks for flagging this and for sharing the extra details. I'm checking this behavior with the product team to confirm whether the link redirection you're seeing is intended or an unintended change. I'll update the thread as soon as I hear back from them.

Thanks for your patience.
