Copy tabbed text from InDesign to Excel (tab symbol convert to space)

For some reason, I can copy tabbed text into single cell in Excel (F2 - Cmd+V). Then I get tabbed text in cell. It's what I need.

But on another computer it doesn't work. All tab characters are converted to spaces.

Is it probem with older version of Excel? Or InDesign clipboard settings?

On each computer:

  • What version of InDesign? What version of Excel? What OS?

And to confirm, the text is in InDesign with text separated by tabs and in Excel it’s putting all of the text into one cell and not separating it into multiple cells?

I’m not at my computer now, but I think when I have a similar issue I sometimes go into Word first and convert to a table, then to Excel because I want everything in its own cell. What do you get when you paste into Word?

It works on Mac OS - InDesign CC18, Excel 2016

Parallel - Windows 10, Excel 2019

It doesn't work on Windows, Excel 2016, 2010

I need to put tabbed text into one cell. I've placed the text into the Word. All tabs character are replaced with spaces.
