copy table text from Google Docs to Indesign table

I have a Google doc with about 8 individual tables on a page, multiple pages.  I'm hoping to not have to retype the table information for each.  I'm working with 1 table at a time.

I would like to copy the text from 1 table into a table in InDesign.  I can't seem to make it work.  I've created a table the same number rows and columns.

Paste is not an option from a right click.  But I do have paste options under the EDIT tab.

I've tried selecting the whole table I'm copying in to.  When I do this, the information from each google doc cell is transferred to an individual cell in the first column only.  So my left column has many filled rows.

I've tried selecting just the top left cell to paste into.  When I do this,   the information from each cell is given a hard return and all information is in R1C1.

I've tried, paste, paste into place and place without formatting.

Is there a way to do this?

Save the Google Doc as a Word file and place that.
