Can I copy text from a table and paste into another table as plain text without copying the formatting.

- copy from indd table

- paste to notepad or excel

- copy from above

- paste to indd table

An intermediate INDD document might be the way, here. Cut from the first doc, paste into the second, 'neutralize' the formatting, cut and paste into the new location in the first doc.

 

Coordinated styles between the two docs will help. That is, create the neutral styles in both docs, then, if you need, eventually delete them from the final document.

In InDesign, have you check which preferences you have set in the FileHandling section?
