Latest version of InDesign 2023 crashes everytime I try to add a new swatch book:

From the Swatches Panel flyout menu, choose New Color Swatch.

In the dialog box, click the Color Mode popup menu.

At the bottom of the list choose Other Library...

CRASH

macOS Monterey 12.6.5

Hi @AuroraPenticton ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please try the suggestions shared above and if it still doesn't work, please share a few more details like:

  1. The exact version of InDesign.
  2. Is this happening with a specific file or multiple files?
  3. Please collect system logs and share the file name with us.

Thanks

Rishabh

Thanks, it was not file related. A file didn't even need to be opened for the crash to happen. Anyway, deleting the "APPLICATION "LOCAL CACHED DATA FOLDER" seemed to solve the problem and I was able to keep my settings.

Try resetting your preferences:

Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the

I can't reproduce this crash under OS 12.6.5 and InDesign 2023 18.2.x, I can't reproduce it under OS 12.6.6 and InDesign v18.3 either.

How much RAM do you have?

Maybe time to consider resetting the InDesign preferences.

24GB RAM. This is literally a new installation of InDesign 2023. But when I have time I will try a reset and see what happens.
