Question

Crash when making Table of Contents with lots of text in Tables

Hi there,

For layout purposes all the headings I want to include in my document are sitting in a table. I probably have about 350 of these headings and when I go to create a table of contents including the text, Indesign freezes for a bit then crashes.

This is more to notify someone about it than to get a fix, I don't think there are other ways of generating something like this automatically that won't crash?

Thanks

If you watn to report a crash it is best to do that here: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs

If you have headings in your document it is best to use the the “Table of Content”s feature in InDesign. There you can create a table of contents depending on the paragraph formats you used throughout your document. You can then style the table of contents seperately with additional styles.

Here you can read more about how to create a table of contents: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/creating-table-contents.html
