Create link between objects or references within one document / Page Jumps

Hello there,

 

For my work as manual illustrator I want to create interactive pdf's. Since fewer people will print these (thankfully) and use digital devices to look into the manuals I want to know how to do the following. 

 

The next problem is fictional but resembles my issue;

'On page 3 theres an overview of different configurations. One of the options is on Page 8. So I want to make a part of some text or an image clickable, so that the user jumps to page 8. I have looked at TOC and got that working in 1 way (from toc to chapter). But i would like to jump from one page to a specific other page. ohh and it would be marvelous if, when i edit the manual and the info on page 8 move to page 9 that all my reference/links will move with it. ' 

 

I would also like to do this with an ' (<TOC) ' button at the end of chapters so that the user can jump from a random chapter-end, back to the TOC.

    @Rene Andritsch oh, bummer.. I haven't thought of the help page. There's some helpful information. In the meantime i've figured out how to use crossreferences as well as making a hyperlink to somewhere.. so I think I now know enough to make it work. Tanks for your answer!

      It is not hard to create links within an exported PDF, although it is easier to create discrete buttons than to make part of an image clickable or the like.

       

      One hurdle is that interactive PDF documents, even ones with elements as simple as navigation buttons, do not work in all PDF viewers. Anything but Adobe Acrobat may not support interactivity, and this includes most free alternative readers, those included with devices and OSes, and especially those built into browsers.

       

      We see a number of posts here from, for example, designers who have created elaborate schedules or directories for trade shows or conventions, and the interactive/nav features don't work on mobile devices, so they're useless except as static pages.

       

      I would keep the linking simple to maximize the number of users who will be able to make use of the feature.

        @James Gifford—NitroPress  thanks for the information. I thought so as well, but for internal usage (we all have Acrobat) it could be useful. Online we use Publitas, so that covers that.
