Question

Created a new user in Mac and ID does not recognize the preferences

Some problems with preferences in Dropbox obliged to create a new user.

The idea is not using ID under two names. Just use it under a new user.

Problem: ID does not recognize the preferences (Keyboard, plug-ins, etc).

ID opens without the old preferences...

I will erase the old user but it is not possible until ID recognizes my preferences

I dragged the icons to the dock to manage. Clicking from these or from the folder in the Apps is the same: new preferences.

From the moment using the old user goes fine.

The idea of eliminate the old user to allows the new one stays alone sounds dangerous as I want not to lose a lot of preferences.

The points is that the preferences are in the ID folder but the new user does not recognize them. Is no way to fix it manually...

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out.
First, why do you want to remove the old user account?

If you have created a new user on macOS or Windows, InDesign will create new set of preferences on it. Also, it is not recommended to copy preferences from one user to another. Best to build them fresh.

Hope it helps.

The old user account has some problems with preferences, permissions, etc.

The new one is fine BUT is not opening ID with my preferences.

Simply, does not recognize keyboard shortcuts, etc.

I would like to transer to this created user the whole ID as it was working.

Now open as a fresh instalation BUT is not visible a new folder of new preferences.

It is like ID could't see the preferences in the Library...

I don't know about anyone else, but I have no idea what you're talking about.

I suggest you clarify all of this with some real details.

Hi, thanks for your post.

The problem in two words: after creating a new user in a OSX Catalina the situation is that ID does not recognize the preferences (keyboards, workspaces, etc). The old user does.

How get that this new user uses the preferences?

The easist thing is to recreate/reset the preferences to match.
