Critical Error 400 when updating Share for Review link - InDesign 2026 (v21.3) Getting crazy!!!

I am experiencing a persistent "Error updating links/artifact" when trying to update an existing Share for Review link. I need to keep the current URL to preserve existing client comments, but the update fails every time with a generic error message.

I have inspected my UXP logs and found a specific HTTP 400 (Bad Request) error. Here is the relevant snippet: [Error] [console] Unknown error getting asset with cloud ID SAMError: [UNKNOWN] Unexpected response status: 400 for https://platform-cs.adobe.io/content/directory/resolve?id=xmp.did:1937be00-1b1b-49fd-a2ff-1b62346e8a9c

Technical Details:

  • InDesign Version: 21.3.0.60 (2026)

  • OS: macOS (Mac Pro)

  • Error: artifactUpdate failure for asset urn:aaid:sc:US:2b61c263-aa20-4bf9-a872-70744038f35f

  • Troubleshooting done: I have tried restarting CC services, clearing UXP caches, and re-linking the document, but the "resolve?id=xmp.did" call continues to return a 400 status.

Is there a way to force a metadata refresh or fix the server-side artifact without creating a new link and losing all current feedback?

Since i am not a programer i try to solve this problen with IA but also i am unable no made it working again, and this feature is huge used and very usefull. Notice that new links works well, but it is unusable if there are no way to update it. We have Intel an MX macs and both have sema problemes with cloud link since end of 2025 and first months of 2026.

Thanks.

I recall there was a suggestion recently to export as spreads, which should fix the problem (although I’m not sure it was exactly the same issue; I’ll try to find that thread.)

EDIT: Nope that was for Publish Online, sorry.

Hello @odon

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. Could you check if this happens with specific files and share the packaged file along with screenshots/a screen recording of the problem, so we can check this with the team?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Our team of two enterprises, involving at least three departments, has been using the Share for Review feature successfully since its launch. We manage very heavy InDesign files with complex cross-references and a large number of images, and it has worked perfectly until now.

Following this issue, and after trying several troubleshooting steps (updating, clearing caches, system restarts, etc.), we created a specific, simplified file. We exported our original print layouts to PDF/X-1a and placed them into a clean InDesign file to avoid any potential interference. It worked for the first few days, but then stopped working for no apparent reason and eventually broke the entire review system. Here are the latest log and

Hello @odon

Thanks for sharing the details. I am unable to access the files using the link shared. Would you mind resharing the files using a different service, so we can check them with the team?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

1. Workflow Context: I am working on a complex technical document titled "REV". This file contains was created with single PDFx1a. The "Share for Review" link was working perfectly until recently. My goal is to update the existing link to maintain the feedback loop and preserve all comments previously made by stakeholders. Creating a new link is not a viable option as it would fragment the review process.

2. The Specific Error Behavior: Every time I click "Update Link" in the Share for Review panel, the progress bar initiates but quickly stops, showing a generic "Error updating links" or "Error updating artifact" red banner.

3. Deep-Dive Log Analysis (The "Smoking Gun"): I have inspected the UXP logs located at ~/Library/Logs/Adobe/Adobe InDesign 2024/UXPLogs... (noting that InDesign 2026 is incorrectly writing logs to the 2024 folder). The logs show a consistent HTTP 400 Bad Request when the application calls the Adobe Platform API:

  • Endpoint: https://platform-cs.adobe.io/content/directory/resolve

  • Failed ID: xmp.did:1937be00-1b1b-49fd-a2ff-1b62346e8a9c

  • Result: artifactUpdate failure status for the specific asset ID urn:aaid:sc:US:2b61c263-aa20-4bf9-a872-70744038f35f.

4. Attempted Solutions (What DID NOT work):

  • Restarting Creative Cloud Desktop app and InDesign.

  • Clearing the UXP and InDesign Caches (InDesign Cloud Work folder).

  • Logging out and logging back into the Creative Cloud account.

  • Checking for broken links in the Links Panel (all links are currently active and updated).

  • Attempting to "Unlink" and "Relink" the document (the error persists upon relinking).

5. System Environment:

  • Hardware: Mac Pro.

  • Software: Adobe InDesign 2026 (v21.3.0.60).

  • Network: Stable high-speed connection (not behind a restrictive corporate firewall).

6. Conclusion: The error 400 suggests a server-side rejection of the metadata (XMP ID) associated with this specific document. It seems like the "Cloud Artifact" has become desynchronized or corrupted on Adobe's servers, preventing any further updates to the existing URL. We need a way to force-refresh the server-side artifact without changing the Public URL.
