I have ID CS3 and need to access INDD files developed with CS5 or CS6.

How can I access these newer formatted files to be converted and used by ID CS3...?

    Hi,

for that you need InDesign CS4.

You would export an InDesign CS5 or CS6 document to IDML, open the IDML with InDesign CS4.

Then you export to InDesign's CS3 exchange format INX and open the INX file with InDesign CS3.

InDesign CS4 is the only version that supports export of INX and can open IDML files.

    Regards,
    Uwe

    To add to LAubender,

please be advive I’ve that going back That further in version comes at a cost. There will be things the designer did with the newer version that take advantage of features that did not exist in CS3. So things will get lost in translation.
