Cursor tool stuck not changed regardless tools I am using, Undo disabled, history list not recording... when working in other app in other monitor.

Question

This is quite a frequent bug I have lately. Whenever I am switching to other app while InDesign is idle (can still be seen on screen; not minimized), and when going back to Indesign, some weird bug happen in one combo. The cursor icon will stuck showing Move tool or Hand tool, regardless I am actually using Pen Tool, Type Tool or other tools. Actual tool is functioning normally, but showing a wrong tool icon is frustrating.

In the same time, I cannot do any Undo. The history list stop recording any new changes or actions, even clicking on the previous History records do not change anything, stuck as well. Cannot do undo is a nightmare.

When this occur, Indesign cannot be closed in normal way.. must be terminated through Activity Monitor.

I am using Macbook Pro M1 Pro 32GB RAM. Latest current InDesign (21.5.1). Hopefuly any solution to this.

@nik.mCurrently Reset Preference helps. But let’s see when I am working in Indesign soon.

These exact same symptoms have beenhappening for me. I’m using InDesign 21.5.1 on a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 16 GB RAM operating onOSSequoia 15.7.4. This is happening on an almost daily basis, sometimes up to 5 times in a day, depending on how much I’m using the application. Force-quitting and relaunchingInDesign resets things for a while, then the issue begins again. Restarting my computer doesn’t seem to have any measurable impact to delay recurrences.
