curve pen tool and curve not there in InDesign?

Thanks for reaching out. At the moment, InDesign 21.4.1 (2026) doesn't include the Curvature Tool (Curvature Pen Tool) that's available in Adobe Illustrator. I understand this would be a valuable addition for workflows like yours.

For creating complex curved artwork, such as a golden ratio spiral, we recommends designing it in Illustrator first. You can then either place the AI file into InDesign (recommended, as it preserves editability in Illustrator) or copy and paste the vector artwork into InDesign if you need to edit the individual objects there, although some Illustrator-specific features may be simplified.

If you'd like to see the Curvature Tool added to InDesign, I'd encourage you to submit a feature request on InDesign UserVoice:
