Question

Cutting and pasting endnotes numbers back into Text Editor

Hello,

I'm laying out a document with endnotes and all looks great and works well. We have an editorial process where type changes get made in InDesign. Then once the print doc is ready, the web editor cuts and pastes the final text from Indesign back into a text editor. The problem is that the endnote numbers do not cut and paste with it. We have tried cutting and pasting from the articles, from the text boxees, etc., but cannot figure it out. Is there maybe a way to convert all the endnotes and their numbers to straightforward text (after doing the design formatting).

Thanks!

Hi,

What text editor are you using? Does the text editor support endnotes?

The text you are trying to cut is the main text with endnote anchors or the endnote text?

Explaining your problem a little or adding screenshots can help people suggest you some ways to accomplish your work

I don't have screen shots because essentially we  are tryint to convert the text to HTML or even RTF.  The problem is that when you cut and paste the text from Indesign to any other program, the numbers do not come through because they are coded(?) as endnotes. I want the numbers to act just as plain text rather than supported endnotes if that makes sense.

You're looking for a feature with endnotes that does not exist.

You can make a feature request here:

in the meantime, you'll have to manually type in the numbers.
