Data merge on mac spinning pinwheel

I'm having trouble doing a data merge in InDesign on my MacBook pro.

I create a blank document, add some text, link the data source, and assign a column to the text.

Then, when I enable preview and click through using the arrows, everything looks perfect.

But when I click to create the merged document, I just get the spinning pinwheel???

Any ideas how to fix this?

I figured it out. My csv file had a ton of empty rows of commas at the end.
