Data Merge with 1 record displaying multiple times on a page

Hi

Has anyone found a simple solution to creating a data merge for business cards, where the output is 1 record displaying multiple times on one page?

Basically I have a file where I can create multiple records on one page, but would like to know if it's possible to have one record print multiple times on a single page. Any guidance would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you all for your responses/guidance. I shall investigate each. Much appreciated.

One way to accomplish this is to fill the page with business cards containing the placeholders. (This is often done by accident by beginners whose desired result is a unique on each card)

While I use data merge a lot in my job and on my blog, I only use the output to single records per page feature as I've found the multiple records per page feature a little buggy and unreliable. I've written about this elsewhere:

I'm also not crazy about the idea of using InDesign as a tool for creating imposition layouts, though I admit I will use it for cut and stack work where imposition software falls over after thousands of records. For something like an n-up imposition, I rely on imposition software such as the one that ships with EFI Fiery Command Workstation, AGFA Apogee, Fuji XMF, Prinergy, etc. These are higher-end imposition tools but that's their primary purpose.

There are also other imposition tools that are much more accessible and are plug-ins to Adobe Acrobat such as Quite Imposition.

However, if your hand is forced and imposition in InDesign is truly necessary, perhaps consider a javascript such as Rhimposition or MakeImposition:

MakeImposition.jsx - DTP Scripting

Rokotyan - Personal network

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

I'd change the csv or text data file for that perhaps.

Just duplicate the data row for that business card you want to see two or more times…
