Data Validation w/ AutoPrice & InDesign
I've just been given my first problem to solve at a new job and I could use some help.
Apparently, our pricing team spends 650+ hours every Fall proofing our annual catalog (18,000 products). I need to figure out how to reduce that time.
The design team uses InDesign and pulls in pricing information using AutoPrice. My understanding is that they are manually typing in the SKU to create the pricing tag for each item, which can lead to errors. They print out PDFs of completed catalog pages and the pricing team manually reviews each line item for accuracy. I'm still following up to find out where the product description and shipping information are coming from, but I have some questions on this AutoPrice piece.
Is anyone aware of any data validation or error checking that can be performed on the AutoPrice tag? Their website mentions that the data is fetched using a SQL query. If I could somehow edit that query to validate the product name matches, that might help.
I realize I'm kind of fishing in the dark here, but any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Mandy
