Yes, it would be nice if Adobe gave the QR code function an overhaul. It's almost wholly standalone, so it seems that updating, especially the vCard function to v3 (and v4) wouldn't be too hard.

However, you can use the Plain Text feature to accomplish about 90% of what QR codes can be used for (excluding only the versions that use the advanced numerical coding, and being able to select the error correction mode), and without any of the downsides of using any online service or app, most of which are deceptive if not active scams and security risks.
