For some reason ubnknown to me, my InDesign brochure document has page numbers. I do not want any page numbers. I never intentionally choose to have any page numbers. I did not apply any Master with page numbers. How do I get rid of/delete all page numbers? Thanks...Chrisc 78884663

Above screenshot of title page shows unwanted Header/Book Title and Footer/Page Number.....this is after the pdf file is processed by the Kindle Create software....So far I cannot find any way in InDesign to get rid of these Headers and Footers....thanks...Chris Coles

It's done automatically by kindle, not from InDesign. You can't avoid it.

It turns out the problem of the pagination and headers that I had not added and could not delete were not in the InDesign or PFD file....but a problem in the KDP Kindle upload "mobi" software.....thanks for your help....

I believe that’s what Jane suggested was the issue at the very beginning of this thread.

The file I am uploading was made on InDesign and then converted via InDesign into a PFD file, then converted for upload to the Amazon kdp site via Kindle Create software file..

You might want to watch a title on www.linkedinlearning.com [was lynda.com] by the world’s leading expert in the field InDesign CC 2018: EPUB. It’s just four and a half hours long.

AnneMarie Concepcion will walk you through the proper way to make the ePub, and you can see in this screenshot that the last lesson is converting to Kindle. She’s already chimed in on this thread!

The half cut  off page numbers are inside the 8.5" by 8.5" pages but peking outside the margins of .375" at the top and bottom.......

weird! It sure sounds like an Amazon uploading/publishing bug. Are you uploading an EPUB? A Mobi? Something else?

Also, if you created the document yourself, where are you seeing the page numbers? In the page layout area or in the Pages panel under each page?

Can you show a screen shot of the page numbers?

The page numbers and headers are not visible on the InDesign document or in the pdf file....they only appear in the final step of the Amazon book publishing procedure....if they were visible, I could delte them...But I can't seem to even find a way to make them visible. I never wanted any page numbers or headers. I must have hit some key accidently somehow.

My page is 8.5" by 8.5"....the margins with no content outside of them are .375".  The page numbers and Headers (with my name and the book title for some reason) appear half cut off at the top left and top right as well as bottom left and bottom right but only in the final step of the Amazon book publishing procedure. As black type. Until that moment they are entirely invisble.

    Hi Chris:

Those page numbers are in text frames and are either on a master page—showing through to the body pages—or added manually to the body pages. You will need to locate the frames and then delete the page numbers with the Selection tool.

Did you base this file on an existing file or start it from scratch?
