Deleting password protected files

I exported a JPEG print from Indesign. I password protected the file to where people can only print it. However, it wont let me delete the file off my computer. Are people who purchase this going to have the same problem deleting the file? Needing to know how to fix this to where it can be deleted on my computer.

I wonder if you are trying to delete it through Acrobat's or Reader's list of recent files? All you can do there is remove a file from the recent files list.

To delete any file in Windows 10, open File Explorer and navigate to the file. Right-click its name or icon. Then choose Delete from the pop-up menu. To delete in a hurry, click the file and press the Delete key. Dragging and dropping a file or folder to the Recycle Bin does the same thing. Your PDF permission settings have no bearing on Window's ability to delete a file from the disk.

Aha! Just treat it like any other file that you want to remove from your drive via Windows.

The operating system does not care about password protected files. How do you know "it wont let me delete" that file? Do you get a message? (If so, is it "... because the file is opened in an application"?)

What operating system?

Exactly how did you password protect a JPG so it can only be printed?

Im using windows 10. I go to 'file' then 'export'. I save the file as an Adobe PDF (print). After saving, the Adobe Export PDF box pops up. There in the setting, I go to security and check that a password is required for editing the  file. (priting allowed, not editing.) After entering my chosen password, and saving it, I can open the file with no probelm. However, it will not let me delete the file.

Ok, so you aren't working with a JPEG, you are working with a PDF, and your PDF permission settings sound fine for what you need. (Note that PDF security isn't as secure as you are probably hoping for—it's relatively easy to get around—but that's a topic for another thread.)

Exactly how are you trying to delete the file?
