Distribute rows question

Hello when I distribute rows, its seems to be utterly random as to what determines how it works. In MS word if you distribute rows, it does so within the confines of the table size, in indesign it just makes the rows larger and throws text into ofset.

How can I make indesign distribute the rows within the confines of the bounding box or table size?

    Hi Gareth,
    I had the same problem.
And the solution is in the Table panel, where "At least" is the default, change it to "Exactly".
Then the command "Distribute rows evenly" will work.
Please let me know if it worked for you.

    This is the correct solution!

Distributing rows (or columns) are based on the rows selected. If you need to distribute all rows of a table, hover the cursor above top row. Cursor will turn into a down arrow, click and this will select all rows of the table.

When using distribute evenly, all rows will be adjusted to same height. The position of top and bottom will stay stationary, with the rows in between adjusted.

Distribute rows will not affect how the text is aligned within the row. This will be adjusted from the Table panel, alignment options.

Hi, I am back needed to distribute rows evenly again, there must be a bug in indesign. It just wont do it correctly, If I select all lines and distribute evenly it picks and arbitrary height for the rows then throws a load of lines below into offset.

What am I doing wrong please?

    Hi garethi55139778

distribute rows evenly, as shown by Jeffrey, should work.

Hard to tell if you are doing something wrong.

Can you make your table available by uploading a document with a table sample to Dropbox ( or a similar service ) and share the download link? I'd like to see into the issue.

    Regards,
    Uwe
