Dividing objects in spreads

Hi!

I have just finished designing a book with pages in spreads. However i have encountered a problem. Many objects extend over the whole spread which would be fine for a normal print, but i need to perform a very specific binding and therefore shuffle the pages so they can join correctly again after the book is bound. If i want to move a page in the spread, the objects that extend over left side of the spread to the right and vice versa, do not divide in half and stick to the half of the spread they are meant to be on.

Is there any way to quickly split all of the extending objects in half along the spine and move the pages freely?

Still not clear haha 🙃

Why would your print pdf be in spreads?

Usually in single pages then they get imposed.

Ohh I think I understand now. Export it in pages without printer's marks, impose it in acrobat and create spreads for printing there.

I never had to do it before they always did it at the print shop, but this time the binding alternates with each section so it wouldn't come out right and I have to do it by myself.

I think I will manage now 🙂 Thank you very much!!!

Hi @alja_0846 , it sounds like you are trying to output imposed pages. Are you doing the printing yourself in house and need to do your own imposition?

quickest way is to Copy it and the use Paste in Place and resize the images on both sides of the page.

But can I ask - why not just export to PDF and move the pages around there?

What binding are you doing?

PDF has some basic imposition options.

But there are some free or nearly free imposition software out there.

If you tell us more about what you're trying to do we can possibly direct you more.

It does remind me of this article

Thank you for the answer!

I am currently trying the suggestions in the article. I am also adding a sketch of my problem. As you see I am trying to split a shape not a photo in half. (For example half of the spread 1 and half of the spread 2 into spread 3 so they can later join again with binding)

I don't see how I could do it later in the pdf where I can move spreads but not pages within spreads.

I am doing a section sewn binding with sided spreads.
