Document Setup is not changing document size - InDesign 2026 on macOS 15.7.5

I was trying to change my document size to a smaller page size and it had no effect even with preview button checked on. No matter what preset size I selected or custom size I created had no effect.

I saved the document and recreated a new document from scratch and then it worked.  Not sure if this is a software glitch known to anyone using the latest InDesign.

P.S. never seen this glitch before.??

    Hi @ptXCreativeDirector,

I hope Barb’s suggestion helps point you in the right direction. One common reason this can happen is when the page size has been modified using the Page Tool. Once changes are made at the page level, Document Setup may no longer affect those pages, which can make it seem like the size isn’t updating.

Could you please check if the Page Tool was used earlier in that document and see if that matches what you’re experiencing?

Let me know how it goes, and we can take it forward from there if needed.

One reason that might happen is if the page sizes were previously modified with the Page tool.

    Hello @ptXCreativeDirector,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you check if this happens with all files and share a brief screen recording of the problem, so we can better assist you?
Also, try resetting InDesign's preferences (https://adobe.ly/41ch7nl) and share your observations.

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders if you want. The location is mentioned above.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
