Question

Double Clicking a Graphic Frame with a Linked SVG doesn't allow me to edit/resize content

I am using the latest version of Indesign 21.4.

I have created a graphic frame and have linked an SVG graphic within it.

Normally, double clicking allows me to resize the content (brown grabbers show)

This is no longer working properly and it’s driving me nuts because I work with a lot of SVG logos.

I’ve tried rolling back to older version 21.3 and it did not fix.

I tried resetting preferences and it did not fix.

What gives? I need to be able to do this for my job.

I can duplicate this behavior. Possibly a bug…

As suggested, the Direct Selection tool (A) works.

Placed images actually exist as a frame within a frame in InDesign. To activate the image within the graphic frame with the regular selection tool you must first hover over the frame until you see the double circle icon (called the Content Grabber). If you click on that with the regular selection tool then the image gets activated (showing the brown-edged inner image frame). If you are not seeing the Content Grabber on hovering then go through View>Extras>Show Content Grabber to turn the feature back on. Clicking on the image with the Direct Selection tool at any time will also activate the image.

Thanks, I am aware I’ve been using Indesign for a decade now. The double click functionality has worked up to this point and I’d like it to continue to work.

Have you considered making an Object Style to control all of them?

Does it happen with every image type, file type, etc. or just SVG?
If it’s every type then might suggest another issue.

    SVGs only

And does it work if you select the Direct Selection Tool?

It does work with the direct selection tool.
