drag and copy

The OPTION-drag feature to copy an element seems to have changed in version 15. In the past you could start the drag and then hit the option key to make a copy. Now you have to hold down the option key before you even click on the object. I find this a very annoying change as my keyboarding patterns are very ingrained in my brain. Is this truly a change, or is this a setting I'm missing?

It hasn't changed, and there's no setting that would toggle the behavior. Have you tried a reset of preferences?

Hi Rowatski:

There are mutiple levels to clearing out bad preferences. How are you doing it? At this point, I'd recommend rebuilding the prefernces and cache files. See: https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/.

Strange, it keeps reverting back to not working. It works for 30 minutes, then stops working.

strange. It fixed it for a moment, then I opened an existing file and it stopped working. Very strange.

So I deleted my preferences again, and it works (for the moment)

I am on Mojave 10.14.6 and InDesign 15.0 and I can begin to drag, add the Opt key and duplicate the object. Nothing has changed for me.

Hm. I still see this behavior with InDesign 2020 version 15.0.0.155.

I'm on Windows 10. What's your operating system?

Maybe you are too fast and let go before the option key is registered?
