Duplicating a line & keeping the formatting

I made a line & gave it a stroke colour & thickness. When I alt-drag it, the new line is a thicker black line like the first one was before I formatted it. I assume I have something set wrong. Can anyone help me get it so that an alt-dragged line is an exact copy of the first one?

(It also happens when I use the Transform tool.)

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. (I don't use InDesign that much, so there's a lot I don't know!)

The funny thing is that I just made a blank document, made a line, formatted it & alt-dragged it & it dragged a perfect copy of my formatted line, so goodness knows what I did in the other document!

Is it part of the same frame?
