Edits to style do not change existing text

I understand that this is a feature, not a bug. However, how do I make InDesign change existing text to match the edits to the style? It must be automatic -- I’m working in a 550 page document. I need to change the spacing above and below. I did a search & replace from the style to the same style, but that didn’t do it. I can tell that the changes haven’t been applied because when I’m in the text, the style name shows up with a + next to it.

    The + sign indicates a style override. There may be a script out there to remove style overrides globally, otherwise you’ll need to select all the text and use the Paragraph Styles panel menu to clear the overrides.

    You might have a character style or directly applied formatting overriding what your paragraph style wants to do. Read this:
