Indesign does not show me a number under "effective ppi" but a multiplication (e.g. 904x1070). 1 year ago I worked with another version where I did not have this problem.

Correct answer leo.r

that's because your image is scaled non-proportionally. therefore InDesign shows different values for horizontal and vertical effective resolution.

Hi @kurkl In InDesign, we (virtually) always want to maintain the aspect ratio while resizing, so I teach my students to always hold the Shift key while dragging a sizing handle.

Mistakes happen,  so to restore the original aspect ratio:

  • Select the image.
  • Enable the Link icon to the left of the width and height values
  • Change one of the two values—the other will follow and InDesign will restore the original aspect ratio.

Leo has the correct answer. You could start by rescaling the image with 'resize proportionaly' 😉
